From March 23 2013 until August 18 2013 at the Strozzi Palace of Florence the exhibition The Springtime of the Renaissance. Sculpture and arts in Florence 1400 – 1460.
The exhibit wants to show, mainly through the sculpture, the genesis of what we call the miracle of the Renaissance in Florence.
From the expressive richness of Gothic, shown through the works of Nicola and Giovanni Pisano, Giotto and Arnolfo, to the revival of ancient classical art and the new era with Brunelleschi’s and Ghiberti’s relieves for the Baptistery door.
The exhibit shows even some of the best examples of the public monumental sculpture by Donatello, Ghiberti and Nanni di Banco and the influence of it on early Renaissance painters: Masaccio, Paolo Uccello, Filippo Lippi, Piero della Francesca. It is a great opportunity of seeing so many masterpieces all together.
