On June 24th 2014 in Florence the new Museo Novecento is opening. It is in Santa Maria Novella square, in the ancient Hospital of Saint Paul with the beautiful porch designed by Michelozzo in the XV century. The Museo Novecento is dedicated to XX century italian art and shows in its 800 square metres, 300 works displayed in 15 rooms, in an opposite chronological order. from 1990's back to the beginning of the XX century. The entrance is through a bright cloister and on the opposite wall a big blue neon by Maurizio Nannucci :"Everything might be different". At the first level the abstract works of Carla Accardi and Corradi Cagli; then Vinicio Berti, Lucio Fontana and the statues by Mirko Basaldella. Do not miss De Chirico, Carrà, Morandi, De Pisis, Casorati and Loffredo (recently dead) with his obsession for the florentine Baptistery. The museum is open every day: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday from 10 am to 9 pm; Thursday from 10 am to 2 pm, Friday from 10 am to 11 pm and during the week-end until Midnight.
