The Crucifix of the Church of Santo Spirito in Florence, carved by a young Michelangelo, after being shown in Turin and Naples, is coming back to its original location. Michelangelo was guess of the prior Niccolò di Lapo in 1492, when he was 17 years old, and in order to thank him, made the wooden crucifix. After the soppression of the monastery under Napoleon it was supposed to be lost. Actually it was hidden under a thick coat of paint, therefore it was restored and shown at the museum Casa Buonarroti where it remained until 2000 when it was brought again to S. Spirito.
Very recently they decided to restore the magnificent Sacrestia, the Vestibolo and the Cappella Barbadori where the masterpiece will be located.
