The Adoration of the Magi by Leonardo da Vinci is on restoration
The famous painting, left unfinished by the great Leonardo, was commissioned to the painter in 1481 by the Monastery of San Donato a Scopeto. Preserved in the Uffizi Gallery of Florence, the painting is recently kept under observation in order to be restored. The equipe of technicians of the Opifico delle Pietre Dure (the Institute of restoration in Florence) will take two years of a meticoulous restoration to remove the layers of the several restorations made through the centuries and to give the painting back the peculiar tridimensionality of Leonardo and to let some traces of color reemerge.
