Until March 19 2012 visit with your professional authorized guide of Florence the exhibition of Russian icones in the Baptistery of Florence. It is a great opportunity of seeing three Russian inones from the Tretyakov State Gallery of Moscow which have never come back to a church since the Russian Revolution in 1917.
The icon of Ascension was painted by Andrej Rublev in 1408, the great Madonna Odighitria belong to the XIII century and the icon of the Crucifixion was made by Dionisij in 1500.
You cannot miss at the same time the wonderful golden mosaic decoration of the dome of the Baptistery of Florence, one of the most important religious building of the city, dedicated to Saint John the Baptist, patron saint of Florence.
