Since next 18 February 2014 celebrating the 450 Anniversary of Michelangelo’s death (18 February 1564) the Accademy Gallery hosts the exhibition Re-cognizing Michelangelo. Buonarroti’s sculpture in photography and painting from 1800’s on.
Starting from the early photographic production of XIX and XX century, the exhibit wants to point out the important role of Phography in consolidating Michelangelo’s critic and iconographic fortune.
The characteristic of this exhibition consists of the connection among the several means to show Michelangelo’s work: photography as a document or as analysis of the masterpiece, showing a new strict cooperation between art historians and photographers. Until May 18 2014
