In the Niobe’s Room at the Uffizi Gallery of Florence is on display the Portrait of a praying young man by Hans Memling from the Museum Thyssen – Bornemisza of Madrid. The occasion is the exchange with the Adoration of the Magi by Ghirlandaio lend by the Uffizi to the exibit Domenico Ghirlandaio. Retrato de Giovanna Tornabuoni (Madrid, 22 giugno – 10 ottobre 2010).
We do not know who the young man is but his hairstyle and the fashion of his dress, suggest he might be Italian.
On the back of the portrait there is a wonderful Still life, representing a vase with flowers.
Memling’s painting will be visible until October 10, 2010, together with other paintings by the Flemish painter belonging to the Uffizi Gallery.
