Since March 8 2014 the Strozzi Palace of Florence will host a great exhibition: Pontormo and Rosso Fiorentino. Divergenti vie della “maniera” (diverging ways of Manierism). It will be a great and unique opportunity of appreciating masterpieces coming from Italy and abroad of both these masters of the Florentine Cinquecento. Both trained in Andrea del Sarto’s workshop, Pontormo and Rosso maintained since ever their independence and their liberty in painting. Pontormo, beloved by the Medici family, was always open to renovation. Rosso was much tied to the tradition, despite his being influenced by Cabala and Esoterism. The exhibit will be divided into thematic areas, following chronological order.
Until July 20 2014.
