On September 20th at the Strozzi Palace of Florence opens the exhibition “Picasso and the Spanish modernity”. It will be on until January 25th 2015.
It is a large selection of works by Picasso and other artists: paintings, statues, drawings, etchings and a movie; the exhibition was made possible by the cooperation between the Strozzi Palace Foundation and the National Museum and Art Centre “Reina Sofia” of Madrid.
The exhibition mainly wants to point out the influence of other artist on Picasso’s works, among the most important names: Joan Mirò, Salvador Dalì, Juan Gris, Maria Blanchard e Julio González.
Among the main works we can see The portrait of Dora Maar, The head of a horse, The painter and the model by Picasso, Siurana, the path by Mirò, preparatory drawings and preparatory paintings for Picasso’s masterpiece Guernica, never shown in such a big number out of Spain
