Pitti Palace in Florence is celebrating Japan, its art, its culture and its traditions. From April 3 2012 until July 1 2012 three exhibitions will be hosted in three different museums under the epigraphy Japan. Land of enchantment.
In the Sala Bianca of the Palatina Gallery (First floor) The elegance of memory. The decorative arts in Modern Japan, a path through XX century Japanese art, curated by the National Museum of Modern Art of Tokyo. Works from the most important museums of Japan.
At the Argenti Museum (Ground floor) the exhibition Lines and colors. Japan its arts and the meeting with the West, dedicated to the ancient Japanese art. Excellent examples of paintings, calligraphic works, sculptures, lacquers, ceramics, fabrics from XVI century until XIX century.
At the Modern Art Gallery (Second floor) in the Florin Room (Sala del Fiorino) the exhibition Japanism. East Fascination between Macchiaioli and 1930s. It consists of a group of works made by Italian artists between 1870s and 1940. Among them Giovanni Fattori, Telemaco Signorini, Giuseppe De Nittis and Mariano Fortuny, all of them influenced by Japanese art.
