After the most famous Gate of Paradise, even the other bronze door made by Lorenzo Ghiberti for the Baptistery of Florence will be restored. The North door was commissioned to Ghiberti in 1401 when the artist won the public competition for the first Renaissance bronze door of the building dedicated to Saint John the Baptist.
After the restoration the original door will be preserved in the Museo Opera di Santa Maria del Fiore and it will be replaced outside with a copy whose single pannels will be sponsored by private supporters find out by the Guild of Dome Association (the association in charge of supporting the restoration and looking for the funds for the project).
