Every year the Costume Gallery at the Pitti Palace in Florence changes the collection of the temporary display. Actually the complete collection consists of 6,000 pieces, among them theatre costumes, vintage dresses, high fashion dresses and accessories. Besides the funeral dresses of Eleonora from Toledo, wife of Cosimo I of the Medici, and her son Garcia, both belonging to the XVI century. The exibit "Fashion between similarites and dissonances - new settings " will be on until March 31st 2012 and it puts in evidence how fashion goes on quoting from the past and creating some contraddictions in the way of considering the female body. It is a great opportunity of visiting, better with an official tour guide, the magnificent Palazzina della Meridiana (the sundial Palace), the XVIII century building home of the Costume Gallery.
