At the Argenti Museum of the Pitti Palace of Florence, the exhibition The trausures of the Buccellati Foundation. From Mario to Gianmaria, 100 years of history of golfsmith art was recently opened.
More than one hundred works, among jewels, gold and silver artcrafts designed by Mario and Gianmaria Buccellati, two of the most important names of the Italian tradition of goldsmith, which goes back to Reinassance.
Exactly following the Renaissance style Mario Buccellati, whom the first section of the exhibition is dedicated to, created his masterpieces. He invented the so called “Buccellati style” so much appreciated by kings and queens, popes and men of culture. It is very famous his fretwork with diamonds which made him famous all over the world.
The second section of the exhibit is dedicated to his son Gianmaria (Milan, 1929) who when was only 12 year old designed his first jewel. In 1968 visiting exactly the Argenti Museum he was impressed by the ancient collection of precious items of the Medici and he was inspired by them for his work.
The exhibition will be open until February 22 2015
