Until January 6 2013 in Florence, at the Spazio Mostre Ente Cassa di Risparmio (via Bufalini 6) the exhibition Alchimie di colori. L’arte della Scagliola. La collezione Bianco Bianchi di antiche scagliole dal XVII al XIX secolo. (Alchemy of colors. Art of Scagliola. The collection of Bianco Bianchi of ancient scagliolas from XVII to XIX century).
The exhibition wants to celebrate the artist-artisan Bianco Bianchi and his technique even through his impressive collection of ancient pieces.
The scagliola, or méschia, is a mix of colorful pigments put together with glue and applied on a slab of plaster, carved according to a design.
