Until September 15 2024 the Galileo Museum of Florence will host the exhibition “Circinus. Compassi di proporzione dal XV al XVIII secolo”. The exhibition, which shows hundreds original pieces, wants to recreate the history of the compass of proportion, an instrument which is consider one of the most important dicoveries of western mathematics.
The instruments on show come from the Arithmeum of Bonn, the Astronomisch-Physikalisches Kabinett–Hessen Kassel Heritage, the Rocca Collection in Bonn, the Delalande Collection in Parigi and from the Fondazione Pisa at the Palazzo Blu, but also from the Museo Galileo itself. Plus you will see original and fascsimile volumes and reconstructions of original instruments, among them some created by Leonardo da Vinci.
