If the group may spend only a few hours in the city of Florence I suggest a walking tour including the visit of the Cathedral (no entrance fees) and the Church of S.Croce (entrance fees). The Cathedral or Duomo is the most important church of the city and it is an astonishing building completely covered by marble slabs in the outside and rich of stainglass windows inside. The holy area of the Cathedral includes the magnificent Baptistery with the Gate of Paradise and the astonishing bellltower, built by Giotto.
The Church of Santa Croce (Holy Cross), famous for the very many important men buried inside (among the world most famous ones: Michelangelo, Galileo Galilei and Machiavelli), is also famous for the relic of Saint Francis’s robe, preserved in the Sacresty. The Church has an entrance fee of 5 euros per person (for groups over 15 pax we may have a discount paying only 3 euros per person). The walking tour, lasting almost 2 hours/2 hours and a half, may includes also the Ponte Vecchio (the Old Bridge) and the Signoria Square, rich of important statues. In alternative to the visit of Santa Croce, we can see the little church of Santissimi Apostoli (no entrance fees), one of the most ancient churches in Florence, where the flintstones ( brought from Jerusalem during the First Crusade) are preserved and they are still used for the ceremony of the fire on Easter Day.

If the group may spend a bit more time I suggest to include the visit of the Academy Gallery, the museum where the famous David by Michelangelo is preserved. Reservation for the museum is warmely recommended during high season.


IMPORTANT:
